Clinical and Health Psychologist (she/her)
Dr. Cynthia Shih, CPsych (she/her) received her PhD in Clinical-Developmental Psychology from York University. She currently works at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), where she also completed her postdoctoral fellowship in Health Psychology. She completed her internship at the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles (CHLA). She has additional experience in other community agencies and private practices within the GTA.
Dr. Shih has over 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families who are coping with a wide range of mental health struggles, interpersonal relationship difficulties, and other general life stressors. Her clinical practice integrates evidence-based practices including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), trauma-focused therapies, dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), mindfulness, attachment, and family systems frameworks.
She has worked with a diversity of clients, including individuals from the LGBTQ2S+ and BIPOC communities , and is committed to providing culturally-sensitive and empathic care. Dr. Shih's practice recognizes that there are social, cultural, and systemic factors that contribute to the psychotherapy process.
Dr. Shih values the importance of a strong therapeutic relationship. She works closely with clients and their families to provide individually-tailored psychological care that best meets their needs and goals.
